so,… this happened
In one of my humanities class, we were discussing Fanon, Senghal, and Soyinka and their views on building a post-colonial “national culture” in Africa.
And this guy starts talking and I can’t explain how much I hate this guy despite only knowing him for a week (he’s the type of guy who will start talking about nonsense in an authoritative manner so it seems like he’s making a point, but really he’s making no sense at all and he’s the type of guy who will read a paragraph in Spanish class and go REALLY FAST because he thinks it makes him sound smart but he’s mispronouncing every single word as he reads), but he starts comparing the experiences of African people after having their entire culture obliterated by Europeans to the experiences of Americans after the American Revolution.
How the hell do you really compare those two?

Why can’t people just admit Africans were screwed? I don’t get it. It’s like they are constantly searching for a reason to tell us it’s not as bad as we think. It is. It’s fucked. There’s no other conclusion to draw.
