So I haven’t been keeping up with my 10k training for the past two weeks, mostly because I’ve been busy as all hell and when I’m not busy, I’m depressed to the point of staying in bed all weekend. I’ve honestly been feeling pretty down about myself and my body image has gone to shit. I feel fatter and fatter with each day I don’t run and sometimes I think I can feel my muscles deteriorating.
But yesterday, my new boots came in and in the process of trying them on and falling in love, I noticed that no matter how much I hate every single thing about my body (I’m working on it, I swear), my legs still feel pretty badass. I just want to stomp on all the people.
Anyways, I better start running short distances soon because I have a 5 mile running fitness test this Saturday for my hiking class!
4 mi run when you’re on the verge of tears can be very cathartic. i’m feeling a little bit better.
10k training: week 2
So we’re off to a bit of a slow start, but it’s okay. I’m feeling good about myself and I think that’s what matters. Once the semester starts and I’m back on a steady schedule, it’ll be easier to run every day. I usually run in the mornings, but since I don’t have school, getting up at 6am has been impossible. I gonna get a burrito now.

2013 fitness: week 1
One of the personal goals I’m setting for myself this year is to run a 10k. Last spring, I wanted to run a 5k and made an agreement with my best friend, R, to sign up for a 5k race every month. We were able to keep up with that and have tons of fun! This year, I’ve signed up to be an NYRR member and we’re going to keep signing up for 5ks every month while I’m training for a 10k that I plan to sign up for in December.
December 2012 was sort of a slow month. We did our December 5k on the 1st, then came finals week, then I had my wisdom teeth pulled, then excuse after excuse piled on and I started averaging only 2-3 miles a week.
I’m getting back into the swing of things again, so my January/February goal will be to maintain running 20-25 miles a week and nothing more. I was averaging about 15-20 miles a week for the past six months (except December), so hopefully, this won’t be too difficult.
To motivate myself, I’m keeping a running/fitness log on tumblr under the #10k training tag.
