We named him Sammy! I wish I was at home so I could play with him. I think I wrote a post on him before, but we got him because my sister’s graduating this year and after she leaves, my mom will be all alone at home. Also, since we put Beauty down, my mother’s been really sad. She’s the first death that really hit home for all of us.
Anyway, Sammy isn’t Beauty’s replacement. No dog can ever replace her. But we thought since we learned so much from Beauty, it would be nice to have a new puppy to care for. He loves going on walks with my mom and is way better at running with her than Beauty ever was. Beauty just liked to run in circles and if she didn’t want to walk, she’d just sit down or pretend she needed to pee, lol.
I’m happy they’re getting along. He’s going to be with her for a long time, probably until she retires and after.
My mom’s new sheltie puppy. We just brought him home and he doesn’t have a name yet, but he is the cutest! Since my sister and I are both going to be gone at some point this year and because Beauty’s no longer with us, this little guy’s going to be keeping my mom company.
We put Beauty down today at 8:30am. I was holding her head when they injected the anesthesia and the drug to stop her heart and I felt her leave. I kept petting her even after they told me she was gone because I just couldn’t handle her not being in her body.
I’ve had her for 14 years, since I was 8 years old. She’s the first loss I’ve ever felt and it hurts so much. I don’t want to go to work in an hour because I think I might cry. I know she’s just a dog but she was my best friend.

This is the best dog in the whole wide world. She’s all sad in this picture because she’s dizzy. I took this in the vet’s parking lot… she’s an old girl now and had canine vestibular syndrome, but she’s gotten over it by now.

i miss my dog. she’s so round and old now that it’s hard for her to get up on our hardwood floors. it takes her several tries and sometimes we need to pick her up to put her on her feet.
i miss my dog so much. i feel so guilty for leaving her with people who don’t give a shit about her (aka my mother who threatens to put her down about once a week) when i moved to nyc.
i emailed my sister asking about her the other week and got no reply. i hope she’s okay.
